The cult motor gnomes from Honda
Small, retro and absolutely cult: Honda‘s small motorbikes are legendary. Today, the Honda brand is primarily present as a manufacturer of passenger cars and full-grown motorbikes. But the best-selling light motorbike also comes from Japan: the Honda Super Cub. More than 100 million units have been sold worldwide since its presentation in 1958. In “Little Honda“, Gerfried Vogt-Möbs introduces the mini motorbikes that shaped the attitude to life in the seventies:
complete model history of Honda light motorbikes: from Honda Super Cub to Honda Monkey and Honda Gorilla to Honda Dax.
many historical photos from the archives
detailed technical data
with contemporary tests and riding reports - pure motorbike history!
Gift idea for motorcyclists - cult factor guaranteed!
From fun bike to cult bike
More by chance than anything else, Honda invented a second family of mopeds. The Honda Monkey was actually intended as an attraction for children in an amusement park, but developed into a real hit on the market from 1961 onwards. Even if the rider had to be as agile as a monkey thanks to the tiny dimensions, there was nothing cooler to ride in the seventies than a Monkey or its bigger brother Gorilla. From 1969, the Honda Dax joined them, scoring points with its progressive design and, thanks to its folding handlebars, also travelling as a “range extender“ in many motorhomes.
While Far Eastern replicas of these cult bikes have been flooding the market for some time, Honda remained quiet for a long time. But in 2019, the all-new Monkey will finally make its appearance and is expected to continue what its predecessors started.
Until then, all motorbike fans can embark on an exciting journey through time with “Little Honda“, featuring many original pictures and interesting background information. And maybe one or the other will sigh nostalgically at the sight of the legendary Bonsai bikes “Do you remember back then...“.
